But I'm glad to hear you've been reunited so soon. This place is a curse enough without the added torture of facing it alone. The relief I felt when I saw Louis was... Well, I'm sure you can imagine. I have heard that some people come with varying memories, as if they have been brought here from different points in history, or the future. What a relief that you and your companion are of similar understanding, as I am with mine. There are certain moments in my history I don't particularly want to revisit in that manner.

[ Luckily for him he opts out of teasing him further. Next time, however.. ]

Similar understanding is one way to put it. Those are the kind of memories that haunt us all, but they catch up to us eventually whether we want them to or not. For your sake, I hope you're able to stave them off.

You seem to think you know a great deal about the kind of relationship I have with Louis. What on earth has he been telling you, I wonder....

[ It's a joke. Mostly. Lestat can't deny he is kind of interested in what the two of them talked about, particularly if it pertains to him. Maybe he'll try to worm it out of Louis later. He's sure his persuasive charm will work much better on Louis than it will on Ethan. ]

I'm sure there have been plenty of times those closest to me have felt less than relieved to see me; maybe it is simply yet another thing your friend Mister Gray and I have in common... And as far as memories catching up to us, well. I refuse to be haunted by anything long dead and gone. [ He lied lyingly. ] I find it an impossible waste of time. Forgiveness is quite a new concept for me, but I'm starting to see the appeal. Perhaps you should consider such a thing with those companions you feel for in such a complicated way now. For some this place is quite literally a second chance.

I can say the same thing about my friends, but who else can you rely on in life? When everything goes to hell, they're there whether you want them to be or not. They see you at your best and at your worst.

Forgiveness? It has to be earned and it's a damn hard thing to achieve. Some people are deserving of it while others aren't, we'll just have to wait and see which of the two options pertain to us. There's nothing for me to forgive them for, they did nothing wrong. [ If only he knew how untrue that was. ]

[ Oh so he has been talking about him to Ethan. Louis' ears must be burning right now, because Lestat is talking to his phone like he's talking to the man himself; What could you have possibly said, Louis, to make Ethan talk this way to me? What of my eyes, do you see what he's talking about, Louis? My oh-so-modest Louis, have you waxed poetic about me? What things do you say to Ethan that you wouldn't say to me, Louis? ]

What kind of act, do you think, would make a person undeserving of forgiveness? Something terrible, surely - but what if they did it under the impression they were doing the right thing? It's so difficult to determine what makes a person deserving of anything in this world, when the goal posts are so constantly changing.

[ He's being so smart, look at him go, having adult conversations of morality with Ethan. It's all a ruse, though, because he can't get Ethan's little drop of intrigue out of his head. ]
